80's Metal

The High Voltage Rock 'N' Roll Magazine

This month our cover stars are Pink Floyd. As the band prepared to release a monster new box-set exploring their early years, we asked a host of rock stars and our own experts to pick their favourite Pink Floyd song. The end result was a mammoth, career-spanning selection of classics and overlooked gems, with choices from the likes of Carl Palmer, Kirk Hammett, Billy Gibbons, Steve Hackett and many others. We also talked to Floyd drummer Nick Mason, who picked his favourite track and looked back on life in one of rock's most remarkable bands.

We also spoke with Alter Bridge vocalist/guitarist Myles Kennedy, the ultimate reluctant rockstar and chatted to Lynyrd Skynyrd man Rickey Medlocke about his life of triumphs and tragedies. We also caught up with the Chrissie Hynde, who waxes lyrical about rock'n'roll, the new Pretenders album and why she's happy being alone.

Elsewhere we popped over to Giant's Causeway to shoot and interview The Answer, as they prepared for the launch of their game-raising new record Solas, and talked life, death and goth with The Mission's Wayne Hussey. If all that's not enough you'll also find interviews with Deap Vally, Richie Sambora, Korn and others, and the story behind King Crimson's 21st Century Schizoid Man. All that and the ultimate rock reviews section (including our verdict on the new Metallica album), plus our exclusive 15-track CD. All in Classic Rock 230, Enjoy!
